Peter Thomas, 35, is accused of selling methamphetamine to an undercover police officer three times over a month.
Thomas owns Pilot Pete's Coffee and Treats, a business inside the Elmhurst Metra station. DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin and Elmhurst Chief of Police Michael McLean announced the charges on Thursday. Thomas lives in Villa Park.
Authorities allege the first transaction was arranged on August 31. The officer bought the drugs at the coffee shop on September 1. Prosecutors' petition states the methamphetamine was packed in a brown envelope labeled Pilot Pete's Coffee & Treats.
The officer made two additional purchases at Thomas' Villa Park home. One occurred on September 30. The other happened on Wednesday before his arrest.
Police took Thomas into custody at his business on Wednesday. They found methamphetamine in his pocket. He also faces charges for intent to deliver methamphetamine, resisting a police officer, and unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver.
Thomas appeared in court Thursday morning. Judges did not detain him pre-trial. He was released with conditions that include no alcohol, marijuana, or unprescribed controlled substances. He must submit to testing. His next court date is November 23.
