The American Red Cross blood drive at Center Line High School opens at 8 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 27. The event runs until 2 p.m. and remains open to new registrants.
Donors can schedule a slot by visiting RedCrossBlood.org and entering the sponsor code CENTERLINEHS. Alternatively, they may call (800) RED CROSS. Each donor who completes the process receives a $20 Amazon gift card via email. Additional details are available at rcblood.org/scpromo.
The venue is the school’s dance studio at 26300 Arsenal St. Visitors should enter through the gymnasium door located off the student parking lot. The Junior ROTC program at the school is organizing the event. The program currently includes 130 students, some of whom attend other local schools.
The donation process takes 45 minutes to one hour. Red Cross staff spend most of that time conducting mini physicals and recording health histories. The actual blood draw requires only eight to 10 minutes.
Transfusions support patients facing serious injuries, burns, auto crashes, surgeries, childbirth, anemia, blood disorders, cancer treatments, and heart issues. The JROTC course is led by retired Sgt. Maj. John B. Koss and retired Sgt. Brian Kath. Their mission is to teach leadership and civic awareness.
