Weather forecasters for Central Indiana report that isolated light showers and drizzle will persist through late morning on Thursday, November 6. Drier conditions are expected to develop by early afternoon, though mostly cloudy skies will remain in place. Temperatures will hold steady in the lower 50s, which is well below the average for this time of year. Light northwest winds at 5 to 10 mph will accompany the passage of a cold front.
Clear skies and dry air will allow temperatures to drop rapidly overnight. Overnight lows are projected to fall into the upper 20s and mid-30s. Downtown Indianapolis may hold near the mid-30s, but outlying areas, particularly to the north and west, could see readings dip into the upper 20s. Frost is possible in typically colder locations.
The weekend will remain quiet under a high-pressure system. Saturday highs will stay in the low to mid-50s. Winds will shift to a southerly direction on Sunday, driving highs into the upper 50s and low 60s. A chilly night is expected from Saturday into Sunday morning, with lows near or just below freezing in some spots.
Early next week will see temperatures return to the low to mid-60s on Monday and Tuesday, slightly above average for early November. Another cold front is approaching midweek, which will bring the next chance for rain. This front is expected to push temperatures back into the 50s by Thursday.
