A 36-year-old man from Lewisham faces attempted murder charges following a violent incident at a North London shopping center.
Eugene Asiedu was arrested on Sunday and formally charged on Monday with attempted murder and possession of a bladed article. The charges relate to a specific stabbing that occurred during a larger event at Angel Central on Parkfield Street. The attack took place at 10:25 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27. Two other men, aged 33 and 27, were found with gunshot wounds at the same location during that window.
The 33-year-old shooting victim sustained injuries assessed as life-changing. The 27-year-old man suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. Both men were transported to the hospital by London Ambulance Service. Asiedu was also stabbed during the incident, though police noted his injuries were neither life-threatening nor life-changing. No arrests have been made in connection with the two shootings, and that portion of the investigation remains open.
Witnesses inside the nearby O2 venue described a chaotic scene as armed police moved in. Rapper Catch was performing when gunshots were heard. Security staff locked down the venue, preventing gig-goers from exiting. One attendee stated that the band initially stopped mid-song before returning to the stage. The performer announced a lockdown and played an additional track while the audience waited. Venue staff later explained that the hold was in place to keep people from walking into an altercation outside.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed Asiedu was charged in relation to the stabbing only. They noted that extensive enquiries into the shootings are ongoing. The public has been asked to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if they have information regarding the incident.
