Metro Detroit Temps Spike to 70s Ahead of Halloween
A dry spell in Southeast Michigan will break briefly Thursday before returning to cool, dry conditions for the holiday weekend.

Weather Authority meteorologist Derek Kevra reports that temperatures in Metro Detroit will rebound sharply through the middle of the week after a slightly cooler Tuesday. Residents can expect highs near 71 degrees on Wednesday, followed by a further increase to the mid-70s on Thursday. These figures place the final days of October well above the historical average for the region.
The upcoming warmth arrives during a persistent dry period in Southeast Michigan. Kevra notes that Thursday marks the first opportunity for scattered showers in nearly two weeks. Although some precipitation is possible, the forecast does not indicate widespread rainfall. Conditions will dry out again by Friday as temperatures settle into the mid-60s.
The forecast for Halloween weekend remains favorable for outdoor activities. Kevra predicts dry conditions with afternoon highs near 65 degrees. By the evening, when children typically begin trick-or-treating, temperatures should drop to the mid- to upper-50s range. This mild weather supports walking through neighborhoods without the need for heavy winter gear.
The dry pattern is expected to hold for most of the weekend. Another chance for showers will arrive on Sunday. This timing allows for a dry Saturday and a potential start to rain on Sunday, providing a clear break in the dry spell before the new week begins.
Yesterday offered milder conditions than today, with Tuesday's high reaching only 62 degrees under partly to mostly cloudy skies. While this remains above average for late October, it is cooler than the previous day. The current forecast suggests a return to warmer temperatures will define the rest of the month.
