Time and Statista released a new set of rankings on October 28, 2026, that identifies top-performing brands for four distinct generational groups. The list, titled America's Best Brands According to Each Generation, breaks down consumer preference by separating data for Baby Boomers, Gen X, Millennials, and Gen Z. This approach allows readers to see how satisfaction varies across age cohorts rather than relying on a single national average.

The findings derive from an independent survey conducted between March and May 2026. Researchers gathered input from more than 33,000 Americans who had purchased from, used, or researched a brand within the preceding three years. The study generated over 220,000 cross-demographic evaluations covering 112 service and product categories. Participants completed the survey through a national online panel, with an average completion time of 10 minutes.

The scoring methodology assigns 50% of the final weight to the Likelihood of Recommendation. The remaining 50% is split equally among three specific criteria: User Experience, Customer Service, and Reputation for Quality. User Experience measures the ease of access and clarity of information. Customer Service evaluates response speed and support relevance. Reputation for Quality focuses on consistent performance and transparent return policies.

Eligibility for the rankings required brands to be available to U.S. consumers. For categories involving location-dependent services, companies had to operate in at least two census regions. The data reflects consumer interactions from the last three calendar years. Events occurring after August 31, 2026, were excluded from the final metrics.

The survey identified the top three to five brands in each category for each generation based on the highest scores. The full list is available for review. The rankings represent a snapshot of customer sentiment during the specified data collection period.

Statista and Time noted that the results should be considered alongside other information sources. They advised that the rankings do not dispute the quality of brands not included in the list. The data serves as a reference point for consumer behavior rather than a definitive guide for future business decisions.

The next step for consumers is to compare their personal experiences with the published lists. The report provides a detailed breakdown of which brands received the highest marks from each specific demographic group in their preferred categories.
