The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 10-1 on Monday night to take a three games to one lead in the World Series.

The game featured a historic offensive outburst in the fifth inning, where Milwaukee scored eight runs. All eight runs came with two outs, a first in the history of the World Series.

Before the fifth inning, the game had been tighter. The Rays took an early lead in the first inning on a single by Yandy Diaz.

Robert Gasser, a rookie left-hander for Milwaukee, pitched one hit in six innings. He faced the minimum 18 batters, a feat not seen in a World Series game since Curt Schilling in 2001.

The Brewers broke the game open in the fifth. Jackson Chourio singled with one out and stole second with two outs. Christian Yelich drew a walk to load the bases.

A replay review overturned a forceout at second base, changing the count. Brice Turang then hit a two-run single after a misplay by shortstop Taylor Walls.

Garrett Mitchell, Cooper Pratt, and Sal Frelick added three more runs in the same inning to make the score 8-0. Chourio later doubled to make it 10-0.

Chourio finished the game with four hits and a stolen base. He became the second-youngest player with four hits and a steal in a World Series game, behind Ty Cobb in 1908.

Tampa Bay manager Kevin Cash said the team has a chip on its shoulder. He noted that the Rays have never won a World Series in 29 seasons.

The Rays have a 4-0 record in the postseason before the sweep. They beat the Yankees in three games and the Guardians in six in the ALCS.

The Brewers lead the majors with 103 wins. They swept the Dodgers in the NLCS. A win in Game 4 would make them the first team to sweep an LCS and World Series since 1976.

Game 4 is scheduled for Tuesday night at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. The Rays have announced Griffin Jax as their starter. The Brewers had not announced a starter as of Monday night.
