Kansas City has signed the veteran kicker, unsigned since his 2025 suspension, as Harrison Butker struggles on long field goals.

The Kansas City Chiefs have brought in a new kicker as Harrison Butker works through a rough stretch. The team is signing Justin Tucker, the longtime Baltimore Ravens kicker and eight-time All-Pro, to its practice squad, according to CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz. The Kansas City Star was the first to report the move.
Tucker last played for Baltimore on Jan. 19, 2025, and is widely viewed as one of the best kickers the NFL has seen. He is a seven-time Pro Bowler and a Super Bowl XLVII champion. He holds league records as the fastest kicker to reach 300 career field goals and the fastest to score 1,000 points. His 66-yard field goal was once the longest in league history, until Jacksonville Jaguars kicker Cam Little kicked a 67-yarder and then a 68-yarder.
NFL Media reports that Kansas City held workouts for three kickers this week. The Chiefs chose Tucker over former Los Angeles Rams kicker Harrison Mevis.
The signing does not come without questions. The Ravens released Tucker in May 2025. In January of that year, The Baltimore Banner reported that six women had accused him of sexually inappropriate misconduct at multiple Baltimore-area spas. The number of accusers later grew to 16 across eight spas. Tucker was accused of exposing his erect genitals during sessions and touching therapists inappropriately.
The NFL suspended him for the first 10 games of the 2025 season for violating its personal conduct policy, and he went unsigned afterward. Tucker worked out for several teams, among them the Indianapolis Colts, New Orleans Saints and New York Jets, but never signed a contract.
On the field, the 36-year-old has converted 89.1% of his career field goals. His 417 made field goals rank 14th in league history.
The move follows a difficult season for Butker, who has missed six kicks in total, one of them an extra point. In Week 7, a 20-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, he missed a 58-yard field goal at the end of the first half and a 45-yarder in the fourth quarter.
"He's been one of the most consistent kickers in football," Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said of Butker after the game. "He's off a bit, so gotta fix it."
Most of Butker's trouble has come from long range. He is 9-of-10 from inside 50 yards this season, yet Kansas City has still been leaving points on the field. Butker remains the Chiefs' kicker for now, but adding Tucker to the practice squad sends a message that is hard to ignore.
