Actors and fans in the UK will see a major shift in the West End production of The Traitors: Acts of Betrayal starting in January. Nick Mohammed is set to take over the role previously held by Claudia Winkleman. Rehearsals for the stage show are scheduled to begin next month, with previews planned for June at the Gillian Lynne Theatre.

The announcement comes as Mohammed prepares to appear in the finale of the second series of the television program The Celebrity Traitors. That episode airs this Friday. The 2025 series of the show attracted an average audience of 11.1 million viewers. It recorded the largest live audience for a single television broadcast that year.

Mohammed reached the final of that 2025 series. He noted that the show changed the type of work he receives. He now hosts the Olivier Awards. The stage play is written by John Finnemore. It consists of five different plays performed by the same group of 12 contestants. The scripts change based on which cast member is designated as a Traitor.

Beyond the stage, Mohammed is working on a new legal thriller for Sky called War. The series has been ordered for two seasons. Dominic West and Sienna Miller lead the cast. Mohammed plays Michael, a solitary and arrogant lawyer. His character has a smaller role in the first season and a larger one in the second. The second season is already filmed. He mentioned that a line delivered by Celia Imrie's character, in which she loathes him, was improvised.

His film and television credits include Bridget Jones's Baby, Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie, and Deep Cover. He also appeared in Fresh Meat, Stath Lets Flats, Inside No. 9, Taskmaster, Slow Horses, and Last One Laughing U.K. His biggest break came with Ted Lasso, which earned him two Emmy nominations. He initially declined the role of Nate Shelley but was persuaded by showrunner Bill Lawrence.

Mohammed credits his background in magic for shaping his career. He grew up in Leeds and began performing close-up card tricks at weddings and parties at age 16. He used the income to pay for college. He developed the character of Mr. Swallow while studying for a PhD in seismology. He performed the act at the Edinburgh Fringe before expanding it into a full-hour set. He recently sold out a 1,200-seat venue in New York for a Mr. Swallow show.

He says the gradual rise to fame helped him manage the attention. He stated that the industry prepares people for failure but not for global success. He preferred the timing, noting it happened when he was 39 or 40 rather than in his early twenties. He also has a Mr. Swallow special being distributed by Universal. He has projects in development with the BBC, Channel 4, and Apple.

Mohammed addressed his reputation for being kind. He said he is uneasy about people being praised for basic behavior. He added that ambition and confidence are useful traits. His wife, a music teacher, keeps him grounded by reminding him that his work complaints are first-world problems.
