Ukrainian drones attacked an oil refinery in Yaroslavl Oblast on the night of November 2 and 3, triggering a large fire at the site. Local authorities issued an air-raid warning at approximately 03:00 due to the drone threat, followed later by a missile alert for the region.

The targeted facility is the Slavneft-YANOS oil refinery, also known as the Yaroslavl Oil Refinery. It is one of the five largest refineries in Russia. Yaroslavl Oblast Governor Mikhail Yevrayev confirmed the incident, while monitoring channels Exilenova+, Exile+, and Supernova+ shared photos and videos showing flames on the premises.

The refinery is jointly owned by Rosneft and Gazprom Neft. The plant produces petrol, diesel fuel, fuel oil, aviation kerosene, lubricants, and paraffin. It supplies petroleum products to Russia's Central and Northwestern Federal Districts and provides fuel to Moscow Oblast.

The facility also serves Russia's defence industry. The plant supplies fuel for Russian military aircraft and equipment. An OSINT expert from Astra examined reader-submitted images and verified that the burning facility is the Yaroslavl refinery located in the city of Yaroslavl.

This is not the first time the plant has been targeted. Ukrainian defence forces struck the facility in late September. The current attack adds to a series of strikes on Russian energy infrastructure aimed at disrupting fuel supply chains.

The fire remains visible in footage released shortly after the attack. The refinery's role in supporting both civilian transport and military operations makes it a key target in the ongoing conflict.
