The Philadelphia Eagles lost 27-10 to the Washington Commanders on Sunday night in Landover, Maryland. The defeat snapped a 10-0 lead and marked the sixth consecutive loss for the Birds. They now sit last in the NFC East with a 2-6 record.

The offensive struggles were stark. The Eagles went scoreless in the second, third, and fourth quarters. Washington answered with 27 unanswered points. The Commanders, who entered the game with only one win, finished with 339 total yards. Their ground game gained 135 yards.

Tanner McKee completed 23 of 34 passes for 212 yards. He threw one interception and lost a fumble. Five sacks and eight hits disrupted his rhythm. A strip sack in the third quarter ended a promising drive. A fourth-quarter interception sealed the loss. McKee held the ball too long and lacked authority in his throws.

The running attack stalled behind a struggling offensive line. Saquon Barkley gained 30 yards on 13 carries. He scored on a 3-yard Wildcat run and caught a 24-yard pass. Elijah Mitchell added 34 yards on 11 carries. The pair averaged 2.7 yards per carry combined. The line failed to open consistent holes for the ball carriers.

Receivers managed modest production without star players. Rookie Makai Lemon led the team with six catches for 57 yards. Darius Cooper caught an 11-yard pass. Hollywood Brown made a late third-down conversion. DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks were absent from the lineup. Tight end Dallas Goedert caught four passes for 30 yards. Rookie Eli Stowers added three receptions for 53 yards.

Special teams mistakes compounded the offensive issues. Jake Elliott made a 40-yard field goal but missed from 41 yards. An illegal formation penalty on Jordan Mailata erased a successful attempt. Washington gained field position with a 44-yard kickoff return and a 27-yard punt return. Braden Mann averaged 34.8 net yards on five punts.

The defense allowed Washington to score on six of its possessions. Jalen Carter recorded a sack and batted down a pass. Nolan Smith added a late-game sack. Jeremiah Trotter Jr. led the team with 10 tackles. Zack Baun recovered a fumble forced by Andrew Mukuba. Washington running back Rachaad White broke a 33-yard run. The secondary gave up a 53-yard completion to Treylon Burks and an 8-yard touchdown to Stefon Diggs.

Coach Sean Mannion's offense converted just five of 15 third downs. Vic Fangio's unit failed to stop Washington from scoring. Nick Sirianni's team blew another double-digit lead. Injuries to key players remain a factor, but the losing streak highlights deeper structural problems in the roster and game plan.
