System Of A Down released the tracks “Protect the Land” and “Genocidal Humanoidz” in 2020. The band issued this new material to support their home country of Armenia. A war had broken out in the region at the time. This release marked the band’s first new music since 2005. Their previous studio album, “Hypnotize,” came out in that year.
Other musical milestones occurred on November 6 throughout the decades. In 1970, Aerosmith performed their live debut at Nipmuc Regional High School in Mendon, Massachusetts. Five years later, the Sex Pistols played their very first live show. That set lasted only ten minutes.
In 1981, The Cars released the song “Shake It Up.” Eric Clapton followed with the album “Journeyman” in 1989. Queen released “Made in Heaven” in 1995. The 2008 MTV Europe Music Awards gave out the Best Act Ever award that year. An internet voting campaign influenced the winner of that category.
Ozzy Osbourne returned to the Alamo in 2015 while filming a road trip show with his son Jack. The location is famous because Osbourne urinated on a statue there in 1982. Phil Rudd of AC/DC faced a different kind of legal attention in 2014. A New Zealand court charged him with attempting to procure murder. He made these comments during an album release party. The court dropped the charges the next day.
The day also marks the birthdays of Corey Glover from Living Colour, Greg Graffin of Bad Religion, and Glenn Frey of the Eagles. The music world lost Hugh McDowell of Electric Light Orchestra in 2018. He died on this date.
